10 Charged To Court In Ekiti For Vote Buying

The police on Friday charged 10 people before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate's Court for their asserted contribution in vote purchasing amid last Saturday's governorship decision in Ekiti State.

Falade said the offense negated Section 130 (an) and 130 (b) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as changed).

The blamed people are Olowosile Eunice, Ajayi Modupe, Ayodele Omolara, Suliat Habib, Udoh Anthony, Oyebola Kemi, Roseline Tunde, Odunayo Toyin and Babalola Esther.

Falade, said that the denounced people and others everywhere , whose locations were not uncovered in Court submitted the offense on July 13 at Ojaoba shopping complex in Ado-Ekiti.

He affirmed that Olowosile Eunice, did corruptly offered cash to other denounced people to unduly impact them to vote in favor of her political gathering amid the July 14, governorship race in Ekiti State.

Falade likewise asserted that, Ajayi Modupe and other denounced people, being voters, did corruptly acknowledge cash from Olowosile Eunice to vote at the Ekiti State Governorship Election hung on July 14, 2018.

The prosecutor approached the Court for a dismissal to empower him ponder the case document and collect his witnesses.

The respondents argued not liable, and their legal counselor, Mr Chris Omokhafe, encouraged the Court to give the litigants safeguard, promising that they would not bounce safeguard.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, in his decision allowed every respondent safeguard in the entirety of N50,000 with one surety each in like aggregate.

The case has been adjourned until August 9.
