POETRY: Scars to your beautiful By Oche_Writes

"Scars to your beautiful"

Alicia Biz

While I was scrolling through my instagram page sometime ago, I came across a photo of the woman who survived the sosoliso Plane Crash while she was modelling for an underwear company.

This quickly grabbed my attention as this woman was covered in scars yet she was as confident enough to show this to the world.

Today, we live in a world where everyone is trying to hide their scars because somehow we all think that it contaminates our so called perfection.

We forget that our scars are not some ugly parts of us that should be hidden under streaks of mascara or oily dust; but our beauty marks that reminds us of how we are survivors of what should have ended our lives.

We forget that not everyone can fit into a suitcase which the world tags as "socially acceptable" and yet it seems like everyone is trying to.

Our scars should never be our source of shame, but our source of strength that shows us just how much we can be flawed and still remain beautiful.
